Middleton ARMS (Middleton, Pickering)
If heading back from a day at the coast, the Middleton Arms offers a place to stop for dinner or Sunday lunch on your way back. Good traditional home cooked food served by staff with great sense of humour creating a very relaxing experience. Not open for lunch except on Sundays. 01751 470107. White Swan (Ampleforth)
Excellent pub for formal restaurant dining and informal pub meals. Ampleforth is about a 10 minute drive from Helmsley. Close to Ampleforth School so can get busy at times - reservations recommended - 01439 788239. www.thewhiteswan-ampleforth.co.uk.
Some of the restaurants in the area can get very busy at times. If you would like to dine at The Star in Harome you will normally need to book well in advance and other restaurants should be booked for Saturday evenings and Sunday lunches. Our recommendation is to book where possible to avoid disappointment.
